Lyrics
After the Fray
To the simple act of living, of breathing,
Like foliate interlacing does he weave
Words in blissful veneration, never wondering
Why the warrior to bard of a sudden gives leave,
After steel upon steel has in blood sung,
While horses trod wearily through stench of death,
While laments for battle-dead from harps are wrung,
And all lies silent, forlorn, devoid of breath:
Yet such contentment in valiance more than wealth
Does surpass for he his richest of hours,
And before the horror upon him secretes her stealth,
Wildly he shrieks, “The Day is Ours!”
